How would you describe your role in 5 words?
Best decision I ever made.
What made you decide to pursue an apprenticeship?
I was never really interested in going to university and wanted to jump straight into the working world. An apprenticeship gives me the opportunity to learn on the job rather than in a classroom but I also gain valuable experience alongside it. This apprenticeship has allowed me to build my confidence and work in a professional manner.
What is the most important thing you have learnt from your apprenticeship to date?
Since starting my apprenticeship I have learnt the importance of organisation and initiative. I am now much more confident in speaking to unfamiliar people and have developed a wide network of colleagues, whom I communicate with on a daily basis. I have also learnt a lot about the importance of IT within GSK and how it plays a part in the day-to-day running of the organisation.
What advice would you give to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship?
Look around and try to find an apprenticeship that is suited to you because each scheme will provide you with different qualifications at the end of it. It is likely you are up against a large amount of competition so don’t be afraid to sell yourself. Try to put as much information about yourself in the application as you can - you will be surprised how important small skills can be to a large organisation.
