An engineering summer internship will provide you with an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience of a manufacturing site. You’ll be adding value to our business as a key member of a multi-disciplinary team, giving you the opportunity to develop your understanding of how our different sites operate, putting academic theory into practice and taking responsibility for your own projects.
What you'll learn
Over the summer you will build up your technical knowledge, as well as developing your communication, planning, organising, problem-solving, team-working and networking skills.
The summer internship will provide you with an in depth understanding of a complex manufacturing process, give you exposure to a wide variety of issues and people, and the opportunity to work in cross-functional teams. Overall the placement is a great opportunity to learn how to make changes through cross functional teams and to apply your engineering skills to real life issues, and see tangible results.
The skills you'll need
You will be an undergraduate student studying chemical, mechanical, automation or electrical engineering. You'll be energised by making improvements and able to demonstrate an interest in the application of lean approaches and the ability to drive changes. You will not have already graduated at the time of taking the summer placement. Whatever you’re studying, you’ll need to be proactive and enthusiastic with the interpersonal skills to build good working relationships across all levels of the organisation. You must be on track to achieve at least a 2.1 (or equivalent) in your undergraduate degree.
