Independent medical education
Our arm’s-length support of independent medical education aims to improve patient health.
We fund education initiatives in the UK for healthcare professionals in disease areas where there is patient need and mutual scientific interest. We help education experts and healthcare professionals to collaborate and innovate, with the ultimate aim of identifying and closing healthcare gaps.
Our support of these initiatives is at arm’s-length - we have no involvement or influence on the education development, logistics or selection of participants. We focus our financial resource on programmes that have the greatest potential to enable people to do more, feel better and live longer.
Having consulted widely with external organisations, we will now be providing grants of up to £25,000 per proposal with support for a maximum of five proposals that meet the criteria on a six-monthly basis. Please note that a maximum of two requests per organisation per year will be considered.
On these pages you can find more information on the type of organisations that can apply, the disease areas of interest, and summaries of previously funded education activities. You can also download the criteria and application forms.
