GSK is proud to work in partnership with the Serious Fun Children’s Network, a growing global community of independently managed camps and programs, to help children with serious illness and their families, reach beyond illness to discover joy, confidence and a new world of possibilities.

Over The Wall is a national UK children’s charity and a member of the international SeriousFun Children’s Network. It is a growing, dynamic charity, which supports over 600 children and families each year across the UK. There is an increasing demand for places at the charity’s free of charge Therapeutic Recreation camps, which help children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, reach beyond the perceived limitations of illness to rediscover a whole new world of possibilities.

Camps are structured on the late Paul Newman’s renowned ‘Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’. As Paul Newman put it, “A place where kids can kick back, relax and raise a little hell”.

Through participation in a proven programme of fun-filled recreational and educational activities, the camps help promote inclusion whilst developing confidence, self esteem, coping strategies and peer relationships of all their campers. They give children one glorious week of experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun and empowering, in a physically safe and medically sound environment.

GSK and SeriousFun have a shared vision to improve and enhance healthcare for children with serious illnesses. The recreational therapy offered at these camps is an integral part of children’s treatment and care. GSK are proud to be a founding partner of Barretstown in Ireland, the first SeriousFun camp in Europe. Since then we’ve helped establish 5 other camps in Europe: UK, France, Italy, Hungary and Israel. GSK has been SeriousFun’s largest corporate donor to date giving over £9 million so that 60,000 children could experience a SeriousFun camp since 1994.
