Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to experience the world of full-time work as well as studying towards recognised qualifications. I believed that if I did an apprenticeship, I would gain a skill set that that would set me up perfectly for my future career. After leaving school and going to college I decided that full-time education was no longer for me and that an apprenticeship would give me the best of both worlds: vocational education and professional work experience.

Why did you choose to join GSK?

I chose to join GSK because of its reputation and business ethos. It is a well respected company and it values its employees. I wanted to join a company where I felt I would gain great job satisfaction. I knew that contributing to the manufacture of Consumer Healthcare Products used around the world would help me feel great responsibility and passion in all areas of my work. Before applying I had arranged some time to visit the Barnard Castle site to get a feel for what the schemes had to offer and really enjoyed my visit, this made me enthusiastic about applying for the art and design programme.

How would you describe your role in five words?

Challenging, enjoyable, rewarding, advantageous and creative.

What are you most proud of achieving during your time as an apprentice?

There are a couple of things. The first is being selected to be on the NxtGen team as the Social Lead. this team helps improve many aspects of the GSK apprenticeship programme and promote the scheme. Another is orchestrating a Careers Fair on-site that more than 350 people attended. I am also extremely proud that I have achieved full marks in all of my college units.
